Due to the growing energy crisis and severe environmental pollution, driving chemical reactions by sunlight has attracted ever increasing attention around the world. We focus on the interdisciplinary area across material science, chemistry, physicals, and engineering to develop superior catalysts based on nonferrous metals. The transformation of small molecules is paid close attention, such as reduction of CO2 and N2, oxidation of CH4 and CH2O, dehydrogenation of HCOOH. Theoretical calculations as well as in-situ synchrotron study are applied to gain atomic-level insight into catalytic mechanism. We also commit to apply nonferrous-metal catalysts in chemical manufacturing and environmental protection by cooperating with chemical industry enterprises.
